[01] About the project
NH-561 links Ahmednagar with Tembhurni across the dry uplands of western Maharashtra. RKC is four-laning its Karmala to Tembhurni section, Package III of the Ahmednagar to Tembhurni corridor, for the National Highways Authority of India.
The works run from Ch. 80.390 to Ch. 139.750, about 59.4 km, and are delivered on the Hybrid Annuity Model under NH(O).

Scope of work
- Widening of the existing highway to four lanes
- Earthwork, subgrade, granular layers and bituminous pavement
- Culverts, bridges and cross-drainage structures along the section
- Junction improvements, road furniture and safety works
Building beside live traffic
The new carriageway is built alongside the existing road, which stays open throughout. Traffic is switched stage by stage as each length is completed, so the corridor keeps moving while it is rebuilt.

Why HAM
Under the Hybrid Annuity Model, NHAI pays part of the cost during construction and the rest as annuities over the concession period, while RKC builds, finances its share and maintains the road. The company that builds the highway is also the one responsible for how it performs over the years that follow.
