[01] About the project
The Chilpi–Kawardha road links Chhattisgarh with Madhya Pradesh, running to the state border past the Bhoramdeo Temple, built in 1089 AD, and through Chilpi Ghati, known locally as Chota Kashmir for its sub-zero winters.
RKC began work in December 2016 for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through PWD (NH Division), Raipur, with Topworth Infrastructure as key partner. The design follows the latest IRC and MoRTH specifications, for a design speed of 80 km/h.
Scope of work
- 50.878 km of two-lane carriageway with paved shoulder
- Urban sections upgraded to four lanes
- 18 bridges and structures
- A toll plaza and utilities
Through the forest
Much of the corridor passes through forest, so construction was planned to keep disturbance to the surroundings to a minimum.
