[01] About the project
Every year, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims walk to Pandharpur in the wari, following the palkhis of the saints. The Palkhi Mahamarg is the national highway programme built along those routes, so the pilgrimage and the everyday traffic of the region have a safe, wide road to share.
RKC delivered the Indapur–Baramati four-lane section for NHAI, completed in 2024.

Scope of work
- Four-lane highway construction
- Pavement, embankments and drainage
- Bridges, culverts and cross-drainage structures
- Road furniture, markings and safety works
A road for walkers and vehicles
A pilgrimage route asks things of a highway that an ordinary corridor does not: room at the edge for large numbers of people on foot during the wari, safe crossings, and a road that stays orderly when the procession passes.
Built for the traffic of the whole year, and for the week the wari comes through.
