From highways to townships: the connections RKC builds
A closer look at the roads, bridges, tunnels and development works that bring RKC’s infrastructure capabilities together.
A highway is easy to recognise in a photograph. The work that makes it useful is less visible: the bridge that keeps a route connected, the drainage beside the carriageway, the junction that serves a nearby settlement, and the maintenance that follows construction.
RKC’s project portfolio spans these different parts of infrastructure. Based in Pune, the company works across transportation, bridges, tunnelling, road assets, operations and maintenance, and construction. Looking across that portfolio gives a fuller picture of what it means to build a connection.
Roads that connect regions
The Dharampuri–Lonand section of Palkhi Mahamarg is one example of RKC’s highway work in Maharashtra. In Kerala, the company’s portfolio includes the Kadambattukonam–Kazhakoottam section of NH-66.
These are different settings, but they share an essential purpose: making journeys between places possible. A useful way to understand a highway project is to look beyond the carriageway and consider how the whole corridor fits into the surrounding landscape and communities.
The structures along the route
Some connections depend on a crossing. Others need a passage through difficult terrain. RKC’s work includes the 102.6 m single-span UHPFRC bridge at Phaltan and the Bhoj–Morbe expressway package, which includes a 4.16 km twin-tube tunnel.
These project records show why infrastructure cannot be described by road length alone. Structures, materials and the conditions along an alignment all shape the work involved.
Infrastructure within a development
The same attention to connections matters at a smaller scale. RKC’s construction portfolio includes a vehicle testing track at Hyundai’s Talegaon facility and roads, drainage and retaining works for One Goa at Bicholim.
Inside a development, a road must work with the surrounding land, crossings and drains. These elements may receive less attention than a building or a major expressway, but they form part of the everyday experience of a place.
A longer view of delivery
RKC’s service range also includes Hybrid Annuity Model road assets and toll operations and maintenance. They extend the infrastructure story beyond the construction phase into the life of the road.
Across the portfolio, the common thread is connection: between regions, between structures, and between the work of construction and the way infrastructure is used.
